From The Studio

This week has already been quite a whirlwind, and I am so pleased and humbled by the praise and enthusiasm that people have shown for the first collection. The first orders are packed and ready to go, and it feels great to have shared what had been under wraps for so long! Today, I thought I'd post a couple of photos and ideas from the past couple of months in the studio.
Creatively, I've always loved to play with depth, motion and mood in my work. A long time ago, when I focused mainly on abstract painting, those ideas were always making their presence felt in my art.
When the idea to create a home/lifestyle line first began to bloom, I really wanted to add something new to the conversation- a mix I had not quite seen before. So, I created a feel-board of some of the words and qualities that I wanted this collection to show. Many of them were from my painting days, and it felt good to get to know them again.
As each pattern, material and idea took shape, that moodboard really anchored things. Some of the words that inspired me were, dynamic, tribal, dimensional, natural, organic, symbolic, totemic and graceful.
Looking back, I can't believe I was juggling ALL those words... but actually, I think they all made it in.
